The GE XWFE filter compatible with select GE side-by-side and bottom-freezer refrigerators. The XWFE water filter cartridge holder is located in the back upper-right corner of the fresh food refrigerator compartment or in the left door. It is certified to reduce chlorine-resistant cysts, lead, select pharmaceuticals and 50 other impurities. This premium filter reduces select pharmaceuticals, including ibuprofen, progesterone, atenolol, trimethoprim & fluoxetine - as well as 99% of Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctaine Sulfonate (PFOS).
The XWFE is tested NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53, and 401 for the reduction of the substances listed on the performance data sheet.
- Filter Compatibility & Replacement - The XWFE replaces the older XWF filter, but the reverse isn’t always true. Many newer GE refrigerators require the XWFE because it includes an RFID chip that communicates with the appliance. Replacement is recommended every 6 months or 170 gallons, whichever comes first.
