Filter Description

The factory original Bosch 640565 Premium Ice & Water Filter is used in refrigerators by Bosch and others. The 640565 filter creates better tasting water for drinking and making beverages as well as clean, clearer, healthy ice. The 640565 is the replacement cartridge for EVOLFLTR10 filter systems used in the Evolution 500 & 800 Series refrigerators.

Installation Instructions

How To Install The EVOLFLTR10 Filter:

  1. Disconnect the refrigerator water supply and unplug the refrigerator
  2. Push the button at the top of the filter case and remove the case from the compartment
  3. Twist the old filter a quarter-turn counterclockwise
  4. Pull the filter straight out and discard
  5. Remove the protective cap from the new filter
  6. Push the new filter into the fridge until it stops
  7. Twist the new filter a quarter-turn clockwise
  8. Replace the filter case back into the compartment
  9. Reconnect the refrigerator water supply and plug the refrigerator back in

Activated Block Carbon Technology

The uses activated block carbon technology. Carbon is one of the most adsorptive substances, and its numerous and microscopic pores make it capable of adsorbing many microscopic contaminants. Adsorption is a chemical bond between the surface of the carbon and a molecule (contaminant).

  • Activated carbon is a carbonaceous, highly porous adsorptive medium that has a complex structure composed primarily of carbon atoms. The networks of pores in activated carbons are channels created within a rigid skeleton of disordered layers of carbon atoms, linked together by chemical bonds, stacked unevenly, creating a highly porous structure between the carbon layers. Activated carbon is able to attract and capture a whole host of contaminants, including chlorine and other organic chemical compounds.
  • Activated carbon means that the carbon has been treated at 1000°C with steam molecules to selectively burn holes into the carbonized raw material, creating a multitude of pores inside the carbonaceous matrix. This process creates so much surface area that a teaspoon of activated carbon has roughly the same surface area as a soccer field!
  • Activated block carbon, then, with its use of adsorption, is one of the most effective water filtration methods in use today.

I purchased these two filters, which I have purchased before from this seller, for a Bosh refrigerator. The filters that I received, are still made by 3M, but they appear to be a more generic type and they did not have the Bosh graphics or text, directions, etc. that previous filters that I had purchased had. I installed a filter and it seems to be working well. I still would have felt more comfortable with exactly the same type of filters that I had purchased that were specific to my Bosh refrigerator.
