In my experience these work as well as the original Mavea Matrix filters. We have very hard water and these filters effectively filter out the lime as well as other unwanted elements, leaving the water very palatable. They last for a good amount of time, too.

I like these filters for the price first off. I like the amount of water I can clean before I need to replace them, but they have one little problem. They vapor lock with air very easly, you have to slowly add water to stop the vapor locking, or you will have to bounce the contaner a few times to break the vapor lock.
