Product Description

The XWF filters are used in bottom freezer, French 3-door, and side-by-side refrigerators by GE.  The XWF installs in the upper right hand side of the refrigerator compartment and creates clean, fresh water for drinking and for making ice.  At DiscountFilters.com, we sell the factory original XWF filter from GE, as well as the Eco-Aqua EFF-6048A filter.  Both filters install easily with a ¼ turn.

Installation

How To Install the XWF Filter:

Bottom Freezer & French 3-Door Refrigerators

  1. Open the filter cartridge housing by squeezing the 2 front tabs and gently pulling down
  2. Remove old filter by pulling down, grasping and twisting counterclockwise, discard
  3. Line up the ports on the new filter with the ports on the filter cartridge holder and twist clockwise about ¼ turn
  4. Swing the filter up and close the filter cartridge housing buy pushing the lid upwards until the tabs lock into place
  5. Run water from the dispenser for 2 gallons to clear the system
  6. Press and hold the RESET WATER FILTER button for 3 seconds to reset the filter timer

Side-By-Side Refrigerators

  1. Remove old filter by grasping and twisting counterclockwise, discard
  2. Insert new filter upwards, so that ports on the new filter and ports on the filter cartridge holder are lined up
  3. Twist the filter clockwise about ¼ turn
  4. Run water from the dispenser for 2 gallons to clear the system
  5. Press and hold the RESET WATER FILTER button for 3 seconds to reset the filter timer
