The 5231JA2006A filter creates better tasting water for drinking and making beverages as well as clean, clearer, healthy ice. The 5231JA2006A is physically identical to the 5231JA2006B filter - but it is not certified to remove cysts and other impurities that the "B" filter is rated to remove.

The water that flows through this filter is the only water I drink & put in my single-serve coffee maker, because it makes the coffee taste great.

After calling and speaking to an agent I learned that the cheaper filters were slightly smaller
that the brand name filter and because the cheaper filter used coconut fibers inside the filter that others had said the water tasted kind of sweet .
Decided to spend a couple extra dollars to get the
one made to fit my LG Refrigerator . Bought 3 , used one and gave one to my Neighbor that has the same unit as I do . That's what neighbors do .
