The Sterasyl ceramic filter is a self-sterilizing filter that can be re-used over again to provide absolute micron filtration down to 0.9 microns. OBE stands for "open both ends" - and this filter can fit in any standard 10" filter housing that accepts a drop in filter. The ceramic contains a specially formulated self-sterilizing silver compound and, therefore, the Sterasyl element does not require sterilization after cleaning. The silver content is precisely controlled to keep well within the maximum levels recommended by the World Health Organization and the E.P.A. The cartridge conforms to NSF Standard (number 53) health benefits with respect to cyst, turbidity, particulate reduction, and self-sterilizing effects.
