Know Your Fridge Filter: WLF-01

When you’re thirsty, the best choice for cool and refreshing water comes from your refrigerator. Tap water is lukewarm at best and doesn’t go through comprehensive filtering by the time it fills your cup. The discount water filter on your refrigerator helps to clean out any hazardous substances while giving you a chilled beverage. But what happens when your refrigerator water filter is old and needs replacing? The WLF-01  filter is a great aftermarket replacement filter for the standard ADQ36006101 filter that is found in many refrigerators.

How the Filter Works

The WLF-01 fridge filter works by using a scientifically proven process to eliminate unwanted particles found in the water supply. It uses a special activated carbon chamber to collect this debris and provide clean and clear water at the tap of a button. Because the activated carbon is such a porous substance, it acts similar to a sponge, soaking up all of the tiny and microscopic bits that lurk inside your water.
It all starts as soon as the tap water from your pipes enters into the refrigerator. Your refrigerator feeds the water through the filter, where it is then forced into the activated carbon chamber. The carbon grabs any unwanted lead, asbestos, chlorine, mold, bacteria, or cysts. This allows clean and revitalized water to flow out of the refrigerator and into your glass. It may sound like a time-consuming process, but it occurs in a matter of seconds.

Installing Your Filter

Even if you’re not the best of handymen, it is still quite a simple process to install refrigerator water filters.
The first step is to locate your filter, which is usually in the upper right hand corner of the inside of the fridge. Decide whether or not it is a push or pull release.

For push tabs:
1. Push the tab in to release the latch and open the compartment.
2. Take out the filter by twisting it in a counterclockwise motion.
3. Pull straight out to remove the old filter.
4. Add the new filter by repeating these steps in reverse.

For pull tabs:
1. Pull the tab forward to release the latch and open the compartment.
2. Take the filter out by turning it one quarter turn in a counterclockwise direction.
3. Pull straight out to remove the old filter.
4. Add the new filter by repeating these steps in reverse.
Whether you followed the push or pull tab directions, always remember to flush two gallons of water through the filter before using it.

Replace the Filter Regularly

To ensure you always have clean and clear drinking water, be sure to change your water filters regularly. While WLF-01 refrigerator filters are effective, they do begin to degrade over time. The carbon chamber loses its ability to grab particles, meaning that the quality of your water could drastically decrease. Always change your filter at least every six months to guarantee the water you are drinking is safe, clean, and delicious.
