Filtration Process

The W10121145 water filter uses a specially engineered process to keep unwanted substances out of your water. The water filter contains a chamber with activated carbon, a form of carbon that is extremely porous and perfect for catching pollutants.

Clean water is created when water passes into the filter from your home’s water supply. As the filter fills with water, the water is pushed into the chamber containing activated carbon. The activated carbon captures any undesired substances in the water, such as bacteria, cysts, asbestos, lead, mold, and chlorine. The activated carbon holds the pollutants in place as the clean water passes through. This process occurs in an instant, and provides you with refreshingly clean water.

How To Install Your Filter

The W10121145 water filter is easy to install. The process is very simple, and can be done in just a few minutes. Simply follow these directions: 

The filter is typically located in the top right corner of the fridge, and will have either a push or pull tab release.

If you have a push tab, the tab will be in the front of the filter housing:

1. Push the tab inward to release the latch and open the housing.
2. Turn the filter counterclockwise until it releases.
3. Pull the filter straight out.
4. Reverse the process to replace the filter with ease.

If you have a pull tab, the tab will be recessed on the front underside of the cover:

1. Release the latch by pulling the tab forward.
2. Turn the filter one quarter counterclockwise.
3. Pull the filter straight out.
4. Reverse the process to replace the filter with ease.

Be sure to flush the filter by running two gallons of water through it before using.

Remember to Replace Your Water Filter Routinely

Although the W10121145 is an excellent water filter, it won’t last forever. As more and more water passes through the filter, the activated carbon will begin to degrade over time.
