The UKF8001AXX Refrigerator Water Filter is a high-quality filtration device that can supply your home with better tasting water and ice. This filter is a replacement filter for the UKF8001 model refrigerator filter. Using the latest in filtration technology, the UKF8001AXX works hard at removing impurities that can be found in your tap water. Most noticeably, it is effective at removing the taste and odor of chlorine. After drinking clean, filtered water you’ll never want to drink water with that dreaded “tap water taste” again.
Filtration Process
The process that occurs within the UKF8001AXX has been scientifically-tested to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness. The key behind the UKF8001AXX’s filtration process is activated carbon. What is activated carbon you ask? Activated carbon is carbon that has been engineered to work specifically for filtering. It contains millions of tiny pores that allow liquids to pass through. This substance has a greater surface area than regular carbon and is better at adsorption. Adsorption is different from absorption in that it involves the water passing through while only catching particles within the water.
The filtration process begins when tap water enters the filter within your fridge. The water is pushed into an inner chamber containing activated carbon. Impurities within the water adhere to the surface of the carbon as the tap water passes through to the other side and into your cup. This process occurs in a matter of seconds every time you push the button or lever on your fridge. The result is crystal clear and great tasting water.
How to Install Your Filter
The UKF8001AXX fridge filter is easy to install when you follow these simple steps:
Located in the upper right-hand corner of the fridge, the filter will have one of two release types, push or pull.
For a push tab, the tab will be located in the front of the filter housing:
- Push the tab inwards to release the housing.
- Twist the filter counterclockwise until it releases.
- When unlocked, the filter will pull straight out.
- Reverse the process to install the new filter.
Pull tabs are recessed on the underside of the housing:
- Pull the tab towards you to release it.
- Twist the filter counterclockwise until it releases.
- When unlocked, the filter will pull straight out.
- Reverse the process to install the new filter.
Remember to always flush around 2 gallons of water through the filter after installing it.
Routine Filter Changes
To ensure that your home is always supplied with the best water, we recommend swapping out filters at least twice per year. An old filter can become clogged with those undesirable particles after filtering water for a long time. This makes it less effective as a filter and will result in lower-quality water.
