CLCH100 Filtration Processwater filtered by 4396508

The CLCH100 filter works by using an effective filtering substance – activated carbon.  This form of carbon is extremely porous, which gives it increased surface area. This makes activated carbon an exceptional tool for filtering out undesirable substances in your tap water such as lead, mold, bacteria, cysts, and chlorine.

The water filtration process begins when water from your home’s tap water supply fills the filter chamber. Inside the filter, the water is pushed through an activated carbon block.  Capturing any undesired particles present in your water, clean water is then pushed back out of the filter and is then available to drink. This entire process occurs in a matter of seconds and is an easy way to provide your home with refreshingly healthy drinking water.

How To Install the ClearChoice CLCH100 Filter

The water filter cartridge is typically located at the bottom of your refrigerator in the grille. If you can’t find it, try looking in the upper right corner inside the fridge, or on the back of the fridge. The filter cartridge should be replaced whenever the replacement indicator light turns red, or if the flow of water to the dispenser or icemaker decreases. To replace your fridge filter, simply follow these steps:

  1. Turn off your icemaker.
  2. Remove your old filter by rotating the filter cap about ¼ turn counter-clockwise.
  3. Pull out the old filter cartridge.
  4. Remove the grille cap for the cartridge by sliding it off the end of the old cartridge.
  5. Slide the cap onto the new filter cartridge
  6. With the new cartridge cap in the vertical position, the new filter cartridge can be inserted into the base grille
  7. Rotate the cap clockwise into a horizontal position

After installing your new fridge filter, be sure to flush three to five gallons of water through the filter cartridge before using for consumption. Don’t forget to turn your icemaker back on!

Filter Change Reminder

After experiencing the refreshing taste of filtered tap water, you’ll never want to go without your fridge filter again.  After continual use, the carbon in the filter will begin to degrade.  This means that the filter could lose its efficacy in filtering out unwanted particulate.  This could lead to a drop in water quality as well as an increased potential for health issues to occur. This can be prevented by performing routine filter changes every six months so that your household is always supplied with only the cleanest, clearest, best-tasting drinking water.
