The 9006 refrigerator water filter works to efficiently provide you with clean, clear water at your leisure.  The 9006 fridge filter is an aftermarket replacement filter for the UKF8001 filter that fits into a variety of refrigerator makes and models.   Never worry about dirty water again as you enjoy the peace of mind that comes with using this fridge filter in your home.

Filtration Process

UKF 8001 Water Filter diagramHow does the 9006 filter work? It’s simple really. Using a proven filtration process, unwanted particles in your water supply are discreetly removed, and clean water is produced.  This process is possible by using activated carbon. Activated carbon is an extremely porous form of carbon that has superior particle capturing qualities.  Inside the 9006 fridge filter, there is an inner chamber filled with this particle-capturing substance.

The process of producing clean water begins when water enters the filter through your home’s tap water supply.  This water is then pushed through the filter where it comes into contact with the activated carbon inside.  The porous carbon then captures unwanted substances in your water supply such as mold, bacteria, cysts, asbestos, lead, and chlorine.  These foreign materials are held in the carbon and clean water is pushed out of the filter.  This process occurs in a matter of seconds, providing your home with crystal clear, better-tasting, and healthy water available at all times.

How to Install Your Filter

Installing your 9006 fridge filter may seem daunting, but the process is actually quite simple. It can be done in just a few minutes.  Find where your filter is located, typically in the upper right corner of your refrigerator.  Follow these steps to replace your filter with ease.

The 9006 fridge filter can come in two types of housing; push or pull release.

If it is a push tab, the tab should be located near the front end of the filter housing:

  1. Push the tab inward to open the housing.
  2. Turn the filter counterclockwise until it releases.
  3. Pull the filter straight out.
  4. Simply reverse the process to replace the filter.

If it is a pull tab, it will be recessed on the underside of the front of the cover:

  1. Pull the recessed tab forward to release the hatch.
  2. Twist the filter one quarter counterclockwise.
  3. Pull the filter straight out.
  4. Simply reverse the process to replace the filter.

After your filter is securely fixed in place, be sure to remember to flush the filter by running 2 gallons of water through the filter before use.

Filter Replacement Reminder

Although the 9006 water filter does a superior job of filtering out impurities, the filter will not last forever.  After continual use, the water running through the filter will begin to degrade the carbon.  This means that the filter could decrease in efficacy and produce inferior water quality.  This can lead to future maintenance issues or potential health risks if left unattended.  Prevent these problems from occurring by replacing your water filter at least once every six months. This is the only foolproof method of ensuring that your home’s water supply is clean, clear, and most importantly, healthy. Find the right filter for you with our filter finder.
