How Does My 4396510 Filter Work?
If you’re anything like me, you like to know how everything in your house works. So how does the 4396510 filter accomplish this great feat of filtering your tap water? Well the answer lies in one material: activated carbon. Activated carbon is a specially engineered form of carbon designed specifically for filtration purposes. This material is made up of millions of tiny little pores that allow the water to seep through, while still trapping impurities. Impurities that can be found in tap water include, lead, asbestos, mold, and chlorine. Due to the unique properties of activated carbon, it’s great at trapping particulates such as these.
As water enters your refrigerator’s pipes, it gets pushed into the inner chamber of the filter. When it comes into contact with the activated carbon, it is adsorbed, and leaves the other side clean, and filtered. This all occurs in a matter of seconds. Almost seems too good to be true, huh?
Filter Replacement
As great as water filters are at saving you money and supplying your home with clean water, they have a short lifespan. Fortunately we can send you packs that contain multiple filters to make changes even easier. We recommend replacing fridge filters at least twice a year. If your water supply is especially dirty (well water maybe) then you might want to change them even sooner.
