The Filtration Process

Using a scientifically proven filtration method, the 100749C filter employs a material known as activated carbon to remove unhealthy contaminants from your tap water and transform it into great tasting drinking water. Activated carbon is a highly porous material with a very large microscopic surface area that enables it to perform an extraordinary amount of adsorption. Adsorption, easily confused with absorption, is the process where a substance that is dissolved in water is made to adhere to a surface.

The water filtration process starts when the water enters the unit after passing through the water line of your refrigerator. The 100749C water filter then begins to fill up with water as the unfiltered water is moved into the inner chamber which contains the activated carbon. The force of the water pressure against the filter scrubs the water as it moves, and the activated carbon exerts a magnetic attraction to particulates in the water.  How to install your water filter

The 100749C filter is easy to install if you follow these easy steps.

Locate the filter receptacle, usually in the upper right-hand corner of your refrigerator.

Your filter will have either a push type release or a pull type release. If your filter is the push-tab type, you will find the tab on the front side of the filter.

1. Open the unit by pressing the tab in. This will release the latch.

2. Turn the filter counterclockwise until it is released.

3. Pull the filter in a straight line out from the receptacle.

4. Reverse this process to install the replacement 100749C filter.

If your filter is the pull tab type, you will find the release in a recession under the front side of the filter.

1. Remove the outer casing by locating and pulling the recessed tab.

2. Continue to pull the tab until the latch is released.

3. Then rotate the filter one-quarter of a turn counterclockwise.

4. Pull the filter in a straight line out from the receptacle.

5. Reverse this process to install the replacement 100749C filter.
