Avoid the Flu with These Immune System Boosters

young woman in rape field has hay feverIt is official, the First Day of Autumn is TOMORROW!!! Say hello to changing leaves, pumpkin-flavored everything, apple picking, and of course the flu season. To help you keep up your health as flu season approaches, I’ve made a list of my favorite fruit-infused water to keep up your immune system. Check them out below!

 

To Keep Your Immune System Strong & Heal Faster From Inflammatory Infections:

Ingredients:

1 cup cubed pineapple

1 cup chopped strawberries

2 peeled oranges

3 quarts of filtered water

Directions: Combine all ingredients, chill for two hours, & enjoy!

Headache relief:

Ingredients:

1inch ginger root

1 cup frozen (or fresh) mango

3 cups ice

Directions: peel ginger with a veggie peelerand cut into 3-4 coin sized pieces. Put all ingredients into a pitcher. Add filtered water. Place in fridge for 1-3 hours before serving.

 

Cold Relief Tea:

Ingredients:

2 cups filtered water

Juice of ½ lemon

3 slices (1/4 in) thick fresh ginger

¼ tsp cloves

½ tbsp. turmeric

1 pinch cayenne

1.5 tsp raw honey

Directions: Add all ingredients (except for honey) into a pot and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let simmer for 10 minutes. Add honey and stir. Pour tea through strainer. Drink & feel better!

To Help Stop Nausea:

Ingredients:

6 cups filtered water

Juice of 2 lemons

Ginger Root

Directions: Put all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Once boiling, cover and lower the heat and bring to a simmer. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes. Drink it hot, chilled, or over ice.

 

Some Additional Combinations to Boost Your Immune System:

  • Pear, Raspberry, & Rosemary
  • Pomegranate seeds, Persimmon, Orange, Cinnamon Sticks, & Allspice Berries
  • Orange, Vanilla Beans, & Cinnamon Sticks
  • Pear, Pomegranate Seeds, & Clovesraspberry and sage
