It’s award show season! The Golden Globes are on Sunday, January 11th, and we can’t wait to see our favorite stars and the red carpet. There are some stars that stand out to us, though, because they share our passion for promoting clean water across the world. Here are our top picks for the 2015 Golden Globe Awards.
Kevin Spacey is nominated for his role as Frank Underwood in the breakout series House of Cards on Netflix. Spacey’s performance on House of Cards has been outstanding in both seasons, but that’s not what won him our support. Spacey has long been an advocate for clean water initiatives, including UNICEF’s Tap Project water network for World Water Day. You can see other charities that Spacey supports here. Good luck on Sunday, Mr. President!
Our next Globes favorite is the inestimable Julianne Moore, who is twice nominated, once for her role as Alzheimer’s patient Alice Howland in Still Alice, and again for her role as Havana Segrand in Maps to the Stars. Ms. Moore is always terrific, but she’s never better than when she’s working to promote clean water for children and in areas struck with natural disasters. Because of all the great work Ms. Moore does, she gets our vote. Good luck on Sunday!
Nominated for his role in Nightcrawler, Jake Gyllenhaal is Lou Bloom, a smart, savvy, and manipulative thief-turned-freelance videographer, who captures crimes in progress and sells them to the highest bidder. Gyllenhaal’s most impressive role, however, is as an advocate for clean water, poverty and disaster relief, and environmental concerns. Gyllenhaal is such a talented actor, and we can’t wait to hear his name on Sunday.
In her fourth season on American Horror Story, Jessica Lange plays the role of Elsa Mars, amputee owner of a carnival freak show in Jupiter, Florida. For the uninitiated, Lange’s diverse roles in all four seasons of AHS have been inspired, creepy, and incredibly entertaining. Even more exciting, however, is Lange’s role in advocating for disaster relief, homelessness, poverty relief, and clean water. Lange is so talented that we’re confident she’ll do great on Sunday!
Appearing as actor Mike Shiner, Edward Norton stands out in the 2014 film Birdman. In addition to outstanding work as an actor, director, and writer, Norton is an environmental and social activist. He has done work promoting conservation, the environment, poverty relief, and clean water. We’ll be pulling for Edward on Sunday.
