The FC40R Return Grille Filter is a high-efficiency, long-life replacement for return grille applications. It captures a significant amount of the airborne particles in the air that circulate through the filter. (Honeywell recommends allowing a depth of seven inches behind the grille to provide space for the deeper filter and airflow through the filter.)
Honeywell recommends changing your filter once a year. It may be necessary to replace it sooner depending on the conditions in your home.

We had a new heat pump unit installed a year ago and had a difficult time finding a replacement filter. For the price of one from the contractor I was able to buy two from here! Savings add up and even though you only have to replace the filter once a year... I'm glad to have two!

changing from Filtrete 1250 to this, I have noticed improved air flow, and I hope less back pressure. This filter costs approx 3x the cost of the filtrete I was using, but, I hope to get 3-6 months between changes compared to changing monthly.

Did you know that the nominal size of your air filter is probably not the same as the actual size? Just like measurements on lumber, the actual size of an air filter is usually slightly smaller than the nominal size.
