Could not tell much difference between the replacement part and the orginal. The most difficult process in replacing the ice maker was unpluging the unit (my plug was extremrly tight). If your ice maker does not have a metal bar, remember to put the metal bar in the down position before removing. The metal bar turns the ice maker ON & OFF.

The ice maker functions just as good as the factory unit it replaced. The only problem i had was with the packaging. The unit was not packaged properly so the plastic parts attached to the ice maker were damaged. Had to use parts off of my old icemaker to make it work. I contacted customer service and they said they would warranty any non functioning units but they did not offer to send replacement parts for the damaged parts. So far the unit functions as expected.

This replacement ice maker works well in my Whirlpool ED5PBAXVQ01 refrigerator/freezer which uses as infrared beam to sense when the ice is full. You simply have to remove the U shaped arm from this replacement ice maker when the arm is in the down position. (If it was not in the down position, then the ice make would never turn on.) The infrared beam simply controls the power to the ice maker, so this replacement ice maker does not have to account for it. Mine works great.
