The factory original filter reduces particulates and contaminants that make the water taste and smell bad. Tested by the NSF International, it meets Standard 42 for chlorine reduction and Standard 53 for lead, cysts, chemical and mineral reduction. When replaced at least one time every six months, the filter produces water at a rate of 0.5 gallons per minute. It successfully cleanses up to 200 gallons of water for your family's needs.

The filters aren't cheap and don't last long and stop your icemaker if you don't change filter. Also, on this Whirlpool model, initial water is not cold until it runs for a few seconds making your water lukewarm.

I bought 3 of these. I haven't use all of them but, I am expecting they are in condition. except the fact that my USPS delivery guy threw my package to my front door. luckily I think it didnt do heavy damage to my package. I hope all the filter I bought works ok...when it is time to use them.
