The aftermarket Supco WF287 is used in refrigerators by GE, Amana, Hotpoint, Kenmore and others. It is designed to replace the MWF SmartWater filter from GE. This filter creates better tasting water for drinking and making beverages as well as clean, clearer, healthy ice.

The water filter cartridge is located in the back upper right corner of the refrigerator compartment. The filter cartridge should be replaced when the replacement indicator light turns red or if the flow of water to the dispenser or icemaker decreases. For refrigerators without an indicator light - replace the filters every 6 months.

I have a GE refrigerator with smart water filter. GE filters cost well over 40 dollars for one. I picked up a 3 pack for about the same price as one and can not tell a single difference between the two. Will definitely be buying these filters again they work perfectly!

Don't know about long-term yet, but it's been working just as good as the factory one that came with the fridge.
Could use a bigger notice/sticker on the box or the product itself reminding to fill the filter with water first before installing. I didn't and there was so much air pressure built up inside the filter that when I twisted it off to fill it with water after the fact, it just about shot off of the back wall of the frige (nature of all these filters, not just this brand)
So far so good!
